Domestic tourism is on the increase and membership of The Camping and Caravanning Club has gone up by ten per cent a year since 2001, currently standing at around 400,000 members. The club even goes so far as to a offer a franchise operation for campsites.
If setting the campsite up as a business then planning permission may be required, however if the use is recreational you can put up as many tents as needed for friends and family.
Mobile caravans can be kept on site for a total of 28 days (not necessarily consecutive) in any one year. If you do exceed this period and your neighbours complain, you will be notified by the planning authority. You will then need to remove the caravan or apply for permission to leave it there permanently.
