Self Build Homes & Self Build Houses
The self build home is one of the quickest growing trends in the property market.
The overall self-build market in the UK is estimated to be worth £4.03 billion,
with self build land costs estimated at £1.13 billion in 2002.
For a self builder, a self build house is one of the largest investments made in
a life time. Not only financially but often emotionally.
Self build homes allow every detail to be specified - the location, the design and
materials (even down to the brand of screw used) and the cost. It is common to find
a self build house valued at 25%+ more than the actual cost to build, thanks to
cutting out middle men. Self build has shifted in proportion from those on low incomes,
to those on a relatively high income who are looking for better value for money
in a highly specified new home.
Whether a large role or a smaller one is played in the self build, stress in dealing
with builders, coordinating supply to the schedule all take their toll. Project
managers can run the day to day build only consulting on the larger decisions to
keep things as hassle free as possible.
